What are ChatGPT Ads?
They're sponsored listings shown underneath ChatGPT's answers. Each one is labelled and kept apart from the answer. Businesses pay to appear while people are comparing options in a conversation.
Ads start showing to Free and Go users
Ads Manager opens to US businesses
Australia, NZ, Japan, Korea and India
With six more Southeast Asian markets
And still expanding
- Singapore launch
- 23 September 2026, together with Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan. ChatGPT Ads now run in over 60 countries.
- Who sees ads
- People on ChatGPT's Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users don't see ads, and neither do accounts identified as under 18.
- Where they appear
- Below ChatGPT's reply, marked as sponsored. Ads don't affect what ChatGPT answers.
- What's in an ad
- Your business name, logo, a headline, a short description, an image and a link to your landing page.
- How you pay
- By views (CPM), by clicks (CPC), or with conversion-optimised campaigns that are still charged per valid click. Ads compete in a relevance-weighted, second-price auction.
- Suggested starting bid
- OpenAI recommends a maximum of US$3–5 per click for click campaigns.
- Daily budgets
- Your daily budget is an average across seven days. One day can spend up to double it, and a week never more than seven times it. Minimums depend on your market and currency.
- Reporting
- Impressions, clicks, spend, click-through rate, average CPC and CPM, and conversions, using OpenAI's conversion tracking and UTM tags.
- How to buy
- Self-serve through Ads Manager for eligible businesses, OpenAI's Ads Solutions team, or an agency.
How a ChatGPT ad looks, and how it gets picked
Eligibility check, tracking and your first campaign. Book a free call.
45- Business name, as verified in Ads Manager
- Logo, shown small next to your name
- "Sponsored" label, on every ad
- Headline, your offer in a few words
- Description, why you, and what to do next
- Image and link, the visual and the page people land on
What decides which ad shows
OpenAI looks at what the conversation is about, your landing page, your headline and copy, and the context hints you add to each ad group. If a user has ad personalisation switched on, it can also use some signals from their wider ChatGPT use.
Context hints aren't keywords
You describe the topics and situations where your offer fits. They steer matching, but they aren't exact-match keywords and don't guarantee your ad shows in a particular chat.
What advertisers never see
People's conversations. OpenAI keeps chats private from advertisers and doesn't sell user data. Ads also aren't shown next to sensitive chats, such as personal or mental health conversations.
What a campaign could look like for your business
Your ad can appear right when someone asks ChatGPT about the kind of thing you sell. Here are four example plans for Singapore businesses. The businesses are made up to show how it works.

Clinic, law firm or financial company?
You can't buy the ad slot in Singapore yet, but you can still be the business ChatGPT mentions in its answer. Our AI search optimisation helps ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews recommend you. We'll also set up your ads account as soon as your category opens.
How much do ChatGPT Ads cost in Singapore?
You choose a daily budget and a maximum bid. Because it's a second-price auction, you usually pay just enough to beat the next ad, often below your maximum. Use the calculator to see what a budget could get you.
An estimate based on OpenAI's budget rules (up to 2× on one day, 7× in a week). Actual clicks depend on the auction and how often your ad is picked. This isn't a guarantee of results.
ChatGPT Ads, Google Ads or AI search optimisation?
Each reaches people at a different moment, so the strongest plans usually combine them.
AI search optimisation gets you named in the answer
ChatGPT Ads put your offer under the answer
Google Ads catch them when they're ready
| ChatGPT Ads | Google Search Ads | AI search optimisation | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where you show up | Under ChatGPT's answer, labelled sponsored | Above and below Google results | Inside the answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews |
| How you're matched | The conversation, your landing page and your context hints | The keywords people type | How well your content answers the question, and how much AI trusts your brand |
| What you pay for | Views or clicks | Clicks | The work itself, not each visit |
| Time to go live | Days, once your account and ads are approved | Days | Weeks to months, and it builds over time |
| Open to clinics, law and finance firms in Singapore | Not yet | Yes, within local rules | Yes |
| Best for | Getting in early, while few competitors are bidding | People who are ready to buy now | Becoming the brand AI recommends, long term |
What you need before your first campaign
First campaigns usually get held up by the same few things. We take care of all of them.
- An allowed category. Your product, ad and landing page all have to fit OpenAI's rules, from start to finish.
- A verified business account. OpenAI checks that you're a real business before your ads run.
- A landing page OpenAI can review. Pages its systems can't access, for example because of bot blocking, aren't allowed to run.
- Conversion tracking. OpenAI's measurement set up on your site, so enquiries and sales are counted.
- UTM tags. So ChatGPT visits show up separately in Google Analytics and your CRM.
- Ad creative that fits. A clear headline, a short description, an image and your logo, with no claims you can't back up.
- Context hints for each ad group. Grouped by what your customer is trying to get done.
- A matching landing page. The same offer and wording as the ad, and a quick way to enquire or buy.
